Evaluation of Forest Quality in Youxi Forest Farm Based on Subcompartment Scale

  • Using the second-class forest survey data at the subcompartment scale by Youxi forest farm in Fujian Province in 2020 as the main data source, and the data was analyzed and classified, 14 indexes such as tree species structure, average diameter breast height (DBH) and hectare volume were selected by using statistical methods such as cumulative contribution rate of variation coefficient and Spearman correlation.The evaluation system of forest productivity, forest structure and site quality was constructed by applied analytic hierarchy process, and forest quality grade and comprehensive index were calculated according to the comprehensive weight formed by subjective and objective weights.The selected indicators reflect 81.9% of the information of the original indicators, which meet the evaluation requirements.According to the evaluation results, forest quality is divided into four grades:excellent, good, medium and poor, with the proportion of ″poor″ class participating in the evaluation accounting for 3.63%; the quality grade is ″medium″, accounting for 40.16%; the proportion of ″good″ quality is 40.57%; the quality grade is ″excellent″, accounting for 15.64%; the comprehensive evaluation index of forest quality is 0.36, and the overall quality grade is ″good″.The evaluation system constructed accords with the current position of forest management in central Fujian, and objectively reflects the situation of forest quality in the study area.
