Comparison of Leaf Functional Traits Under Different Stand Densities

  • In 2020,10 to 12-year-old Ormosia hosiei and Cyclobalanopsis myrsinifolia trees in a mixed stand of rare tree species at the grass carp pond forest farm in Jingning,Zhejiang Province were studied,the morphological changes,specific leaf weight and physiological changes of leaves under different stand densities (800,1600,2500 and 3300 plant·hm-2) were analyzed. The results showed that under the density of less than 2500 plants·hm-2,the leaf characters of Ormosia hosiei had no significant change,but under the density of 3300 plant·hm-2,the leaf area,weight and thickness all decreased,the leaf traits of the C. myrsinifolia were adapted to the seasonal changes of the associated tree species,but were not significantly affected by stand density. There was no significant difference in physiological and biochemical indexes between saplings of Ormosia hosiei and C. myrsinifolia under different densities,and it was suitable to grow under the stand density of 1600~2500 plant·hm-2.
