Abstract
The effects of different storage time and mulch on the germination characteristics of Quercus sessilifolia seeds were studied to provide scientific basis for the seedling raising technology of Q.sessilifolia.The effects of different storage time (30,60,90,120 d) and different mulch (straw,loess,broad-leaved litter, pine needles) on seed germination characteristics of Q.sessilifolia were studied in Baisha Town State-owned Forest Farm,Shanghang County,Fujian Province from 2021 to 2022.The results showed that different storage time had different effects on seed germination characteristics. When the storage time was 120 days, the maximum radicle length was 11.30 mm.The highest germination rate was 90% when the storage time was 90 days. There were differences in seed germination characteristics under different mulching treatments.Compared with no mulching (control),straw mulching significantly shortened the continuous germination time of seeds, reduced the germination rate and germination index of seeds, while loess mulching not only reduced the continuous germination time of seeds, but also increased the germination rate, germination potential and germination index of seeds. The comprehensive results showed that different storage time and coverings had significant effects on seed germination characteristics of Q.sessilifolia.The best storage time of seeds was 90 days. The selection of loess for covering after sowing could improve seed germination characteristics and promote seed germination of Q.sessilifolia.
