Abstract
In 2020,the analysis of the growth performance and genetic variation patterns of growth traits of 3-year old excellent family testing forests of Toona ciliata was conducted in three experimental sites, including Shunchang,Jianyang, and Pucheng,Fujian. The results showed significant differences in tree height, diameter at breast height, and individual volume among the 54 excellent families of Toona ciliata in different regions, different families and the interaction effects between locations and families, and the genetic variation coefficient of individual volume was the largest. Based on the growth performance of different families at 3 years old, using the average individual plant volume as the index, the following early fast-growing excellent families suitable for Shunchang were selected: 36,42,43,40,41,2,30,39,44,21,38,32,19,20 and 37. The early fast-growing excellent families suitable for Jianyang were 37,41,29,42,36,40,3,16,20,44,51,2,30,21 and 50. The early fast-growing excellent families suitable for Pucheng are families 30,23,20,18,28,22,19,38,36,44,21,17,43,15 and 37. Families 21,30,37 and 44 performed excellently at three experimental sites, with these four families came from Yifeng,Jiangxi, and Longnan,Jiangxi, respectively. The genetic gains of Shunchang,Jianyang and Pucheng in Fujian were calculated to be 40.25%,43.11% and 53.41%,respectively,based on the average individual plant volume at the age of three years. The selected early fast-growing and high-quality materials are used for constructing the Toona ciliata seed orchard and fast-growing,high-yield forest.
