Study on Grafting Seedling Techniques of Easy-to-aroma Aquilaria sinensis Variety

  • In order to improve the grafting seedling technology of Aquilaria sinensis varieties that are easy to form fragrance, and meet the urgent need for high-quality clonal seedlings in production,a systematic research on grafting and seedling raising technology of fragrant varieties had been carried out.The results indicated that the grafting and seedling raising of A.sinensis would be carried out in the southern Fujian region around October 20th.About 15 months old soil A.sinensis should be used as the rootstock, with a ground diameter of 1.0~1.99 cm and a basal diameter of 0.50~0.89 cm for scions. The grafting should be carried out using materials that had undergone top pruning to promote sprouting and had 2~3 leaves cut off from 3/4 of the area on each ear.During the grafting, the rootstock and scion would be tightly tied with plastic straps, and then a transparent and thick plastic bag would be used for moisturizing. After about 100 days of grafting, the seedlings would start to be fully polished, the strains with a high survival rate had an average survival rate of 95%,a sprout number of 2.7 branches per plant, and a sprout length of over 23 cm at 180 days after grafting. In late May of the following year, the average seedling height could reach over 40 cm and be used for afforestation.
