Effects of Layering Angle and Season on the Growth of New Shoots in Phoebe bournei

  • To clarify the impact of layering angle on the growth of new shoots in the fast reproduction of Phoebe bournei, this study set up four layering angles (0°,45°,90°,and 135°) and analyzed their effects on the survival rate, number, and height growth of new shoots during spring and summer seasons. The results showed that higher angles (90° and 135°) exhibited significantly higher survival rates in both seasons. Although the number of new shoots was not significantly affected by the layering angles, the spring season produced significantly more shoots than summer. Lower angles (0° and 45°) resulted in taller new shoots, with summer shoots being taller than those in spring.
