Selection and Comprehensive Evaluation of Tree Species for Urban Road Greening in Zhangzhou City

  • To reasonably evaluate and select tree species for urban road greening in Zhangzhou,a field survey of typical urban roads was conducted. The Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) was used to construct an evaluation model based on expert questionnaires, covering 5 major criteria and 16 indicators. The results showed that there were 79 tree species on 52 urban roads, belonging to 27 families and 58 genera, mainly Leguminosae and Palmae plants. The most frequently used ones were Bischofia javanica and Ficus concinna.Among the 16 indicators, the highest weight was given to foliage, followed by cold resistance, flowering, dust retention, wind resistance, and others in descending order of importance. Detailed grading standards for the 16 indicators were developed, and the evaluation model was applied to comprehensively assessing 79 surveyed tree species. This assessment identified 9 species as Grade I,28 species as Grade II,34 species as Grade III,and 8 species as Grade IV. This provides a reference for the rational selection of essential, main, and general tree species for urban road construction projects in Zhangzhou. The evaluation system model also offers valuable reference for the development and utilization of native tree species and the introduction of exotic varieties.
