Breeding of a New Cymbidium Cultivar ‘Zhijiao Qiuyan’

During the period from 2013 to 2019,a new Cymbidium Cultivar ‘Zhiijiao Qiuyan’（variety rights number: CNA20201006497） was bred from C.ensifolium var. rubrigemmum ‘Hongmao Ruidie’ as the female parent and C.faberi Rolfe ‘Jiuhua Huangtao’ as the male parent through hybridization, sterile seed sowing of F₁ generation, excellent single plant selection, and asexual reproduction.The plant type of ‘Zhijiao Qiuyan’ is moderate and semi-erect; the main color of the petals is red, and the petals are butterfly shaped. ComPAred with the quantity and quality traits of the butterfly shaped orchid variety ‘Baodao Xiannv’,‘Zhijiao Qiuyan’ has longer peduncles, longer petals, longer flowers, larger flowers,and is more ornamental.
