Abstract
A comprehensive survey of liana resources in the Shimentai Nature Reserve, Guangdong Province was conducted from 2000 to 2022.The analysis revealed a total of 262 liana species, spanning 135 genera in 53 families within the reserve. These liana resources were categorized into seven groups according to their utilization: medicinal, ornamental, edible, feeding, fiber and chemical material, ecological utilization and others.Among these categories, medicinal lianas were the most abundant resources, comprising 214 species from 120 genera in 50 families, followed by ornamental resources with 105 species from 72 genera in 37 families.Edible resources consisted of 65 species from 34 genera in 23 families, while fiber and chemical resources encomPAssed 20 species across 15 genera in 10 families.Ecological utilization resources comprised 65 species distributed among 51 genera in 26 families, and feeding resources were limited to only 6 species within 6 genera in 3 families.Medicinal and ornamental liana resources were identified as the most significant types in this area. These findings may provide valuable insights for their sustainable exploitation.
