Abstract: In order to understand innovation level of Chinese wood processing industry deeply, wood processing enterprises and invention patents from 1985 to 2020 were selected as object, the paper analyzed current situation, characteristics and problems of wood processing enterprises innovation by using methods of machine learning, data mining, questionnaire survey and field investigation.In view of the problems existing in the process of industrial innovation and upgrading, such as the decentralization of innovation subjects, the response of innovation orientation, the ″spindle″ of innovation chain and the isolation of innovation models, it discussed innovation ability development path from aspects of attack direction, dislocation competition, first breakthrough and cross-border cooperation, and proposed countermeasures and suggestions from innovation subject, innovation elements, industry university research integration and science and technology finance.
