Abstract:
To understand the status of germplasm resources of the endangered mangrove plant
Sonneratia ovata, a systematic survey of this species was conducted in the natural and artificially introduced areas in 2021.The results showed that:the suitable habitat for
Sonneratia ovata are the locations lying at the high tide zone of Hainan Island coastal intertidal zone, a total of 260
S.ovata were found in this investigation, of which 227 were naturally regenerated and 33 were artificially introduced; the diameter of
Sonneratia ovata population is relatively small, mostly below 10 cm; the natural population of
Sonneratia ovata is mostly mixed in the communities of
Lumnitzera littorea and
Bruguiè
re sexangular.Individual populations can be naturally regenerated. In the future, greater conservation efforts should be made to remediate the habitat of origin and promote the natural renewal of this species.Artificial assisted breeding was modestly carried out, and the introduction of experiments were appropriately performed to expand the population.
