Abstract:
In order to select excellent genetic materials for breeding and application of the
Xanthostemon chrysanthus, the determination of the offspring of
X. chrysanthus was carried out in Hulong Village,Daji Town,Xianyou,Putian City,Fujian Province. The adaptability and growth trait variation characteristics of the 3-year-old
X. chrysanthus offspring were analyzed and evaluated, and the optimal family was preliminarily selected. The results showed that the tested family had strong adaptability, high survival rate, and good growth. The young trees could tolerate short-term extreme low temperatures of -1 ℃. The differences in tree height, diameter at one meter height, and crown width among the 3-year-old participating families reached a highly significant level, with significant variation and high heritability. The coefficients of variation for tree height, diameter at one meter height, and crown width were 20.48%,18.18%,and 18.62%,respectively,and their heritability was above 0.85. Comprehensive analysis and evaluation were conducted on the tested families using tree height, diameter at one meter height, and crown width as indicators. Families Z05,Z03,Z08,L04,L12 and Z09 were initially selected as excellent families. The preservation rate, tree height, diameter at one meter height and crown width of these families at 3 years old reached 92.10% ~ 95.42%,3.73 ~ 4.02 m,3.95 ~ 4.35 cm and 1.79 ~ 1.93 m,respectively, which were 5.86% ~ 9.68%,17.71% ~ 26.96%,12.19% ~ 23.80% and 19.62% ~ 29.02% higher than the population mean. The genetic gains reached 2.46% ~ 4.06%,15.62% ~ 23.78%,10.38% ~ 20.26% and 16.83% ~ 24.90%,respectively.
