Abstract:
To investigate the effects of slope aspect and position,as site factors,on litter-fall production and water-holding capacity in a
Phoebe bournei,and to provide a reference for its sustainable management,a 19-year-old
P.bournei in Zhenghe State-owned Forest Farm,Fujian Province,was selected as the research object.Litter collection frames were set up on the upper,middle,and lower slopes of different slope aspects(shady slope and sunny slope).Based on the measurement and comparison of the monthly variation patterns of
P.bournei litter-fall under different site conditions,the differences in litter water-holding and interception capacity among different stands were analyzed and compared.Main results showed that:① for
P.bournei litter-fall on different slope aspects and positions,the minimum yield occurred in March,and the maximum yield occurred in May and June.The annual litter-fall production on the shady slope was in the order:lower slope > upper slope > middle slope.On the sunny slope,the annual litter-fall production was in the order:lower slope > middle slope > upper slope.② Compared with the shady slope,the litter water-holding and interception capacity of the
P.bournei plantation was stronger on the sunny slope,and the maximum interception rate and effective interception rate of the litter on its lower slope were also significantly stronger.However,the maximum water-holding rate of the litter on the middle and lower slopes under shady slope conditions was significantly greater than that on the upper slope(
P<0.05).③The correlation analysis revealed a significant negative correlation between
Phoebe bournei litter production and the maximum water-holding capacity of
P. bournei litter at the upper, middle and lower slope positions (
P<0.05).The litter-fall production of
P.bournei shows obvious seasonal unevenness,which,combined with the interaction of slope aspect and position,leads to differences in the water conservation capacity of
P.bournei litter.
